سمیرا رمضان، ایک بے بس اور مظلوم ماں جو اپنے بچوں کے ساتھ ایک جہنم جیسی زندگی گزار رہی ہے۔ اس کا شوہر شراب نوشی اور جوا کھیلنے کا عادی ہے، اور روزانہ کے تشدد نے اس کی زندگی اجیرن کر دی ہے۔ اس کے شوہر کی درندگی یہاں تک بڑھ چکی ہے کہ کئی بار جھگڑوں کے دوران اس کا گلا دبانے کی کوشش کر چکا ہے۔ بچے اس ظلم کے باعث خوفزدہ ہو جاتے ہیں اور چیخنے لگتے ہیں، لیکن باپ پر کوئی اثر نہیں ہوتا۔
سمیرا اپنے ظالم شوہر سے علیحدگی چاہتی ہے، لیکن وہ کس پر بھروسہ کرے؟ اس کے بھائی خود غریب مزدور ہیں جو اسے سہارا دینے سے قاصر ہیں۔ سمیرا کے مالی حالات بھی خراب ہیں: بجلی کا دو ماہ کا بل 21,000 روپے اور کرایہ 6,000 روپے واجب الادا ہے۔
