Mama went to get flour but hasn’t returned yet. I’m so hungry, but she gives me only half a roti, saying the other children need it too. Mothers, desperate to feed their children, sometimes never return home. A single piece of bread costs not just hunger but the lives of parents, leaving children orphaned.

ماں آٹا لینے گئی تھی لیکن ابھی تک واپس نہیں آئی۔ مجھے بہت بھوک لگتی ہے لیکن ماں آدھی روٹی دیتی ہے اور کہتی ہے باقی بچوں کو بھی دینی ہے۔ اسی پر گزارا کر لو۔ گھروں میں روٹی کی قلت نے بچوں کو بھوک سے بچانے کی کوشش کرنے والی کئی ماؤں کو واپس نہیں آنے دیا۔ دس کلو آٹے کا حصول کتنی جانیں لے گیا؟
پوری روٹی کی طلب میں بچوں کو ماں باپ کی لاشیں ملیں۔ ہم بدنظم ہیں یا بے حس ہو چکے ہیں؟
