It is a painful trial—on one hand, the condition of her children, and on the other, Samreen Baji herself has been suffering from a serious illness. The flood that struck Theme Park Lahore destroyed her home and all of her salon equipment. Everything was washed away; nothing was left. Samreen shares, “My children are mentally disabled. I could only carry them and leave the house. I couldn’t save any belongings. After the flood, the condition of our home became very bad, and my entire parlor setup was completely destroyed.” Previously, she used to earn a respectable livelihood through her salon work, but circumstances took that support away from her. There was no income left, nor the strength to manage the growing challenges of her children. Bearing the expenses of both children had become extremely difficult for this helpless mother. Despite all this, she did not lose hope and wanted to earn on her own to support herself and provide treatment for her children. When the Shauoor Welfare Foundation team visited her home and witnessed her situation, they immediately decided to help. She was provided with a complete parlor setup once again. The Shauoor team accompanied her and purchased all the necessary equipment. Today, by the grace of Allah, Samreen is standing on her own feet. She has successfully re-established her salon and is earning a dignified livelihood.
