To make both ends meet, they cut plastic bags, earning meager wages that couldn’t cover two meals a day. Now, as Palwasha’s wedding approaches, she also has small wishes as a poor bride-to-be—just two or three outfits, a pair of golden-heeled shoes, even if they are made of glass and colorful bangles.
